RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER – HENDERSON, NC


Maria Parham Medical Center is seeking a Full-time Respiratory Care Practitioner for our 102 acute care facility.  An excellent location, just minutes away from Raleigh/Durham, beautiful Kerr Lake, and the Virginia border…we’re close to the big city and still have a small town charm. 
The RCP performs independent professional respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, clinical evaluation of care including the establishment of therapeutic objectives and the review of care based on the age and needs of the patient. The final and ultimate authority, judgment and clinical decision making are the responsibilities of the physician. 
Job Qualifications:
Previous hospital experience preferred. High School diploma/GED; clinical experience as provided by the Joint Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education (JCRTE) approved program for Respiratory Care. Graduate from a JCRTE approved school required and must be licensed by the NC Respiratory Board.  Ability to work various schedules. 

Training/Special Skills:
BCLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP.  

Licensure:
Current license by the North Carolina Board of Respiratory Care. RRT credentials or actively pursuing within 6 months.

Technical Analyst, Special Medical Service
Requires Experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist

Pitt County Memorial Hospital is an 861-bed, Level I Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at ECU. PCMH provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient services to more than 1.3 million people in 29 counties.

Special Medical Services, a department of Pitt County Memorial Hospital, has an immediate opening for a Technical Analyst. This position works closely with the Respiratory Care Department in planning, designing and launching efficient business and information technology applications that support Respiratory Department policies, procedures and workflows. This includes reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of information technology system implementations. 

The Technical Analyst collaborates with HIS (Hospital Information System), Finance, Nursing, Pharmacy and Education departments to coordinate and prepare for deployment of new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) application modules and enhancements; creates department specific diagrams for Electronic Medical Record implementation; provides training and support for Respiratory staff and students. 

In addition, the Technical Analyst participates in department staff and leadership meetings, prepares staff work schedules and maintains Respiratory Policies/Procedures and the department website.

Qualified candidates must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least 5 years of experience as a Staff Respiratory Therapist. Excellent organizational, decision making, problem-solving and interpersonal skills with advanced computer literacy in Excel and Word required. Demonstrate ability to learn VIZIO and EPIC applications to integrate them into work processes in a timely manner.  In 2011, will lead the testing and implementation of ventilator interface into EMR.

POSITION SCOPE:  The Regional Respiratory Operations Director will provide support for all Respiratory Therapy (RT) services within their assigned region to ensure profitability, quality services and products.  This position will be wholly responsible for RT only sites, and provide support to the RT function in multiple therapy sites.  The Regional Respiratory Operations Director will also establish and implement RT policies and procedures to further drive corporate initiatives in this area.  This position will also assist with the development and ongoing management of annual budgets, business plans, sales plans, new program development and new intake employee training to ensure continued, long term growth and profitability for RT only offices, and support these functions in multiple therapy sites within the assigned region.

TASKS AND STANDARDS FOR POSITIONS:

Assist in the development of the regions Respiratory Therapy plan and ensure its proper execution.
Work with the Regional Vice President (RVP) to develop short and long range objectives for the RT function.  Develop and integrate the individual office plans and strategies into an overall plan to achieve maximum output and contribution to the corporate strategy.  Work with the RVP towards enhancing individual office effectiveness while achieving minimum cost overruns. Identify the cost-effective systems needed to support RT, taking into account business trends, resource availability and changes in customers.  Continuously evaluate and communicate changes and plan updates.
Support the entire Respiratory Therapy function within the assigned region.
Direct and coordinate work of designated employees, manage personnel activities to meet regional objectives related to Respiratory Therapy.  Provide clinical oversight to multiple therapy sites.  In RT only sites, assume responsibility for the reimbursement function and ensure financial goals are being achieved. 
Review and evaluate each offices Respiratory Therapy programs and performance.
Review reports and updates from assigned branch locations and the Corporate office.  Outline improvement plans, and work with the RVP to implement in multiple therapy sites.  Counsel General Managers in all locations as to the execution of RT programs and when necessary, provide direction for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans in accordance with prevailing business conditions.  Ensure best practices and performance improvement initiatives related to RT are being driven at each location.
Support relationships with "key" accounts, industry and trade associations, public service organizations, vendors and customers. 
Engage in other outside activities consistent with the company's responsibilities in the community and the industry.
Oversee supervision of General Managers in RT only sites.  
Supervise the General Managers for designated offices that support the RT function only.  Implement and monitor orientation process of new General Managers.  Will conduct interviews, and oversee hiring and training to assist in the development of new employees.
Participate in marketing and sales efforts as required.
Foster “intra-organizational” and “intra-departmental” teamwork.
Initialize communication and work with other offices within the region to accomplish goals.  Demonstrate solid employee relations skills and knowledge of workplace ethics and diversity.  Set and clearly convey standards for performance that challenge subordinates and help them to learn and develop.  Provide information/feedback regularly on performance including constructive criticism and encouragement.  Hold staff responsible for achievement of goals/objectives.
